The lucky lotto player, who prefers to buy her tickets in Maryland, crossed over the dividing line between her hometown into Prince George’s County, where she purchased her winning ticket at the Eastern Avenue BP gas station in Mt. Rainier.

There, she turned a $2 quick-pick ticket into a $50,000 third-tier “Powerball” prize.

The woman says that she’s an avid lotto player who has won over the years - her largest Maryland Lottery win is $1,356, and she also claimed a $2,500 prize in DC - but none of the victories came close to her latest win on the Wednesday, May 10 drawing.

With the Powerball jackpot continuing to swell after another drawing without a jackpot winner, the player from DC said she has every intention on one upping herself and taking home the big one.

“That’s coming,” she said on May 16 when she claimed her $50,000 third-tier prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore with her husband by her side. “There’s more to come.”

While she has some practical plans for the incoming cash, she also has a plan or two to treat herself.

When prompted by Lottery officials about whether she plans to continue playing, she did not hesitate, knowing that funds are being funneled to the Maryland General Fund, which supplies budgets for, school, public safety, and environmental programs.

“Of course!,” she said. “When I don’t win, I don’t feel bad because I know the money is going to good causes.”
